The recent eruptions of Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano in Volcanoes National Park have captured the world’s imagination. This narrated excursion features the closest approach to recent lava flows allowed by Civil Defense and local authorities.

You’ll explore Volcanoes National Park, Thurston Lava Tube and Kilauea Iki Crater, and visit the Jagger Museum and Volcano House. If conditions are deemed safe by the National Park Service, you’ll also have the opportunity to hike out onto the lava flow.

This Big Island Hawaii Volcano Adventure also takes you through Hilo Town and Banyan Drive, the waterfalls at Rainbow Falls (if time permits), a macadamia nut factory (seasonal), and an orchid and anthurium nursery.

Departure Point: Tour departs from Hilo hotels or Airport
Departure Time: Hotel pick up is between 8:00am and 8:30am

This was such a fantastic experience. Didn’t see lava flow though as the only way to see it while we were there was in a helicopter. Got to walk on past lava fields which was pretty cool. Definitely worth doing.
