Madu Ganga (20min)
Boat rides on the backwaters of the river can take you to an enchanting world. You will meander through a unique mangroves ecology, pass local fishermen with their traps and move among quaint islands, each with unique features.

Bayroo
Boat cruise on the Bentota river (10min) Gently cruise through mangroves, observe fish, reptiles, insects, birdlife, and butterflies as you pass villages and villagers on either side of the river that do not seem to age.

Brief (25min)
Located 10km inland, Brief is the former home of Bavis Bawa, brother of acclaimed Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. The gardens are an icon in the field of landscape architecture. Indeed it is unparalleled in the excellent use of contour, colour and foliage. Every bend, every corner, every garden seat even, has been designed to please the senses. Not only beautiful, the 2 hectare gardens are steeped in a history of luminary guests including notables like Lawrence Olivier, Vivian Leigh and Donald Friend. Well worth a visit.

Historic Galle Fort (1 hr 15min)
The 17th Century Dutch Fort in the port city of Galle is an imposing testimonial to the colonial era. An absolute must see.
