Weligama Bay Resort is situated on the south coast of the island of Sri Lanka, approximately 143 km from the city of Colombo and 15 miles (24 km) south of the historic port city of Galle, The Hotel overlooks the beautiful Weligama Bay.

Weligama, meaning ‘sandy village’ boasts a wide golden sandy beach that stretches for miles along the coast. The area is famous for its well-known stilt fishing, delicious sea food, dance and cultural shows, ayurveda spas, snorkelling, scuba diving and seasonal surfing. In the Weligama Bay is Taprobane Island, which was originally built in the 1920’s by the romantically named but self styled Count de Mauny-Talvande. The island with its neo palladian mansion has played host to kings, queens, presidents, prime ministers, aristocracy, writers and eccentrics, giving it a very colorful history.

Weligama is for those travellers who enjoy the pleasure of nature and less for those seeking nightlife and a party holiday. There’s limited nightlife in the area and the nightclubs, which are mostly within the resorts, open only at weekends.

Weligama Bay Resort is a 5 star boutique beach resort and spa hotel, consisting of 24 rooms, villas, bunglows and suites appointed with all modern comforts and providing a panoramic view of the Weligama Bay.

ACCOMMODATION

Superior Room:

On the 1st floor of the main building are ten well appointed superior rooms, which are approximately 35sqm. Each room has a king-bed, complimentary bath robes and towels of pure cotton for luxurious comfort. A private balcony equipped with table and chairs offer great views of the coast and bay. The extensive range of amenities include air-conditioning, ceiling-fan, hair dryer, DVD player, CD music system, flat screen satellite TV, high speed internet access, mini bar, electronic safe and international direct dialling phone.

Junior Suite with terrace:

On the 2nd floor are two spacious single bedroom suites, with a living room, seating area and large private terrace with panoramic views of the bay. Each has a king size bed (extra beds are available) and ensuite bath, separate shower and two wash basis. Other amenities are the same as in the Superior rooms mentioned above, plus in-suite tea and coffee making facilities. Occupancy: 2 Adults, 2 Kids

Royal Suite with terrace:

Description: Also situated on the 2nd floor are the most spacious of rooms which have two bedrooms, living room, seating area with a comfortable couch and chairs and a terrace with bay views in a total size of 115 sq meters. The huge bathroom has two wash basins, an over sized bath and separate shower. It also contains the same amenities as in the Superior room plus tea and coffee making facilities. Occupancy: 2 Adults, 2 Kids

Bungalow Double Connected with terrace:

The hotel has two double connected bungalows with spacious bathrooms, an open-air shower, wooden ceilings offering skylights and ceiling lighting and a terrace with an outside seating area in a total size of 46 sq meters. The bungalows contain the same amenities as the Superior room. Occupancy: 2 Adults

Deluxe Bungalow with terrace:

The resort has six deluxe bungalows located only a few meters off the beach, restaurant and swimming pool. Each has a large bathroom covering 12 sq meters containing an over sized bath and open-air showers, wooden ceilings offering skylights and ceiling lighting, a writing desk and a terrace with outside seating in a total size of 58 sq meters. Amenities are same as the superior rooms above. Occupancy: 2 Adults, 1 Child

Aroma therapy essential oils, exotic herbs and organic plant extracts all concocted to diminish stress, relieve tension and help you relax, rejuvenate and rediscover yourself. The Bawana Spa offers a range of exotic signature treatments along with Body immunisation / Longevity treatment, Body purification therapy and cleaning facials, Shirodara, medicated steam bath, package treatment, slimming treatment, herbal, fruit, milk or mud baths.

CUISINE

The cuisine at the hotels restaurants vary greatly, from Mediterranean dishes to local seafood and SriLankan specialities the choice is excellent. The food is delicious as it is everywhere in Sri Lanka. The hotel also offers natural Ayurveda food for vegetarians and participants in the hotels ayurveda programmes.

SCUBA DIVING – Well equipped PADI Diving School (reg #. S10270) with qualified German instructors offering an extensive range of water sports such as snorkelling, scuba diving, safari diving, boat riding, paddle boating etc.

The school also conducts PADI dive courses such as open water dive course, dive master etc, leading to your international PADI certificate.

Check-in/Check-out Time – Normal check-in time is 12.00 noon and check-out is 11.00 a.m. Earlier check-in time or a later check-out time could be requested on a case by case basis and the hotel may agree depending on availability.
