Snorkel or dive at some of the best known dive sites off Cairns such as Flynn, Milln and Thetford reefs for their abundance of marine life. The sites offer excellent wall dives, swim-throughs and overhangs, great for both novice and experienced divers. you can expect to see an abundance of fish species, hard corals such as staghorn, table, plate and boulder coral, and many species of soft corals.

Your day begins with pickup from your Cairns hotel to board the boat at Marlin Wharf. The ultra modern 29 meter catamaran will be your base for the day. Throughout the day you’ll visit three different locations which may include Thetford, Milln and Flynn Reef. Each stop showcases a different aspect of the beautiful Great Barrier Reef. At each site you have the choice to snorkel, dive or a combination of both.

If you have never tried scuba diving you can choose to do one or two introductory dives, or you may prefer to stick to snorkelling and explore all three sites from the surface. A crew member will take those interested on a guided snorkel tour at one of the reef locations. Certified divers can choose to partake in up to three certified dives. Whatever you choose, your Outer Great Barrier Reef Dive and Snorkel Cruise includes up to five hours in the water.

The friendly crew will be happy to answer any questions you have throughout the day. The boat features full bar facilities, fresh water showers and expansive sundecks overlooking the Coral Sea. A tropical buffet lunch will be served between sites, along with morning and afternoon tea.

The beautiful coral cay of Green Island is a protected Marine National Park, topped with emerald rainforest and surrounded by white sandy beaches and magnificent coral reefs. The marine life includes endless varieties of colourful fish, turtles, giant clams, shells, starfish and sea anemones.

Green Island is 15 nautical miles (27 kilometres) from Cairns, and you’ll cruise there aboard an air-conditioned catamaran with spacious, luxurious cabins and decks to enjoy Queensland’s warm, tropical climate.

En route to Green Island you’ll see a snorkelling demonstration and an informative presentation on how you can make the most of your two hours at Green Island. Arriving at the skydive site, you will be briefed for your skydive. You’ll board a Cresco 750, Australia’s fastest skydive plane, and soar to your jump height. From 11,000 feet (3048 meters) you will jump from the plane for 30 seconds of freefall, before your instructor releases the chute. There is no better way to enjoy unobstructed, uncrowded views of Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. This is a tandem skydive, no experience necessary!

With the adrenalin still pumping, head to the heliport for a 30-minute scenic flight over the Great Barrier Reef. The Barron River Gorge is located just 20 minutes drive north of Cairns and lies along a traditional pathway used by the original indigenous Djabugay people. The spectacular Barron Falls, further upstream, are considered a sacred site. The famous Kuranda Railway and Skyrail Cableway also traverse sections of the gorge. The rapids are up to Grade 3.

This heart thumping ride spears through The Barron Gorge National Park and the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics. In the calmer sections you will get to enjoy the ethereal beauty of the worlds oldest rainforest and waterfalls from a unique waterline perspective. During the day you will also discover why the Barron’s rapids have names such as ‘Rooster Tail’, ‘Cheese Churn’ and ‘Hells Gate’.

All you need to bring is lace-up shoes (that WILL get wet), swimming costume and towel (you will need to have your swimming costume already on when you are picked up), a spare change of clothes and don’t forget the 15+ sunscreen. You will be provided with safety equipment, including life jacket, helmet and spray jacket, as well as light refreshments after the trip while viewing the day’s photos.

Australian Whitewater Rafting Grading System: Grades do vary when water levels vary. As a generalization grades tend to go higher as water levels increases because of the steep nature of river gradients in this country. These grades are referred to as the NORMAL grade. Below are the general characteristics of the six grades of whitewater.

The Barron Gorge is graded rapids up to 3.

RAPID GRADE (1) Rapids are small regular waves.
RAPID GRADE (2) Rapids with regular medium sized waves (less than 1 meter) RAPID GRADE (3) Rapids with reasonable size waves (1-2 meters) with a need to hold on at times.

We prayed for a perfect day, and got one! The weather was perfect, the seas were calm, and the water was crystal clear. The reef and the fish were amazing! The boat experience was great! The team was truly professional; they made you feel safe and comfortable, and tried to ensure you had a bit of fun along the way. I would highly recommend this tour. The only disappointment was that we couldn’t have a beer or glass of wine on the return trip, as they’d had their liquor license suspended recently due to some incident with a rude client. Hopefully that’ll be cleared up soon. Either way, it was a fabulous day, and one of the highlights of our four week, three country trip!

You’ll then travel up the Palmerton Highway to the region’s newest rainforest experience, the Mamu Canopy Walk. Here your travel will take you on a series of magnificent boardwalks and viewing platforms which traverse the canopy level of the World Heritage Wooroonooren National Park. The experience culminates as you walk out onto the cantilever overlooking the Johnston River Gorge providing the most spectacular views of this untouched region.

Mungalli Falls is your next stop, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch while taking in the tranquil setting. The picturesque Millaa Millaa Falls, one of the most renowned waterfalls in Australia, will inspire a photograph or two, before visiting the infamous Giant Curtain Fig Tree. Continue to Lake Barrine for an informative Wildlife Cruise.

Tour continues as you board the coach for the return journey to Cairns via the Gillies Range, which overlooks the breathtaking beauty of the Mulgrave Valley. Arrival back in Cairns is approximately 6.00pm.

A great day out! The driver guide was superb. There was never a dull moment!! The rainforest walk was great and the rainforest cruise at the end was unusually interesting. Lunch was delicious and served in a charming setting. The Spanish Castle bit could be dispensed with, although the owners were welcoming and the tea very good. We learned a lot on this tour and really had fun.
