Likely to Sell-out! – An Evening in Schonbrunn Palace: Palace Tour, Dinner and Concert regularly sells out weeks in advance. Book ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
Schonbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the imperial family, is considered one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Europe. The Habsburgs resided here the better part of the year in numerous rooms for the large imperial family in addition to representational rooms. Emperor Franz Joseph, who later married the enchanting Sisi and reigned from 1848 to 1916, was born here in 1830. The monarch spent his last years entirely in the palace, which became the property of the new Republic of Austria only two years after his death. Today, the palace is part of UNESCO’s cultural heritage due to its historic importance, its unique grounds and its splendid furnishings.
There are four ticket categories to choose from: VIP, A, B and C, referring to the front, middle and rear of the auditorium respectively.
VIP guests enjoy preferred seating at the concert and will be served a glass of sparkling wine during the intermission.
Schonbrunn Palace Tour: This romantic tour of the imperial apartments starts behind a massive door at the top of the Blue Staircase. It begins in the west wing of the palace, with the apartments of Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife, Elisabeth, which are furnished in 19th-century style, and continues through the state rooms in the central wing, also known as the State Wing. From there the tour proceeds to the richly-appointed guest apartments. The Franz Karl Apartments, which were occupied by Emperor Franz Joseph’s parents, Archduchess Sophie and Archduke Franz Karl, conclude the tour.
It is a self guided tour accompanied by an audio-guide (German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Polish, Czech and Hungarian). During the winter, we recommend guests start the tour at 4:00pm at the latest. During the summer, please start your tour before 5:00pm. The tour lasts approximately 1 hour. You may take this tour at any time during the palace’s official hours. Please note, we do recommend taking the tour before your dinner and concert at Schonbrunn Palace to appreciate the full royal experience!
Cafe-Restaurant Residenz Dinner: Culture and fine cuisine are an excellent combination! The restaurant is located in the Ehrenhof (“Court of Honor”), adjacent to the palace’s main entrance. An elegant three-course candlelight dinner awaits you. In summer, dinner will be served outside in the garden terrace. The menu is subject to change, and vegetarian dishes are available upon request (at time of booking).
* Appetizer: Salmon with a twist
* Main Course: Fillet of Turkey with green pepper sauce served with grilled cherry tomatoes and duchess potatoes
* Dessert: Chocolate mousse from Landtmann’s fine pastry shop served with a fruit sauce

The Concert was amazing and we could have stayed another hour. Enjoyed very much. The dinner was very good and probably better than we had expected. However, the tour…..we could not find the Orangery and when we finally did we were told to walk back to the Palace for the tour so we did walk back only to be told that it was now closed. We were very disappointed about that and the closing time should have been made plainer on the information we were given.

Vienna is a real charming place and people who enjoy fine cuisine will love it. I’d also like to go on the palace tour – kind of reminds me of when I was in school when we used to visit lots of palaces and museums!!
